Three gold, six silver and five bronze medals

    16. August 2013

The German Deaflympics team powered by power one – the hearing aid energy

Three hundred and sixty-five not only tells you how many days there are in a year - it also represents the German medal tally at the Deaflympics. The German Deaflympic team brought home three gold medals, six silver medals and five bronze medals from Sofia. This took Germany to 14th place overall at this summer's Deaflympics.

The tennis team were favourites for winning a medal and did not disappoint. With a total of three gold medals and one bronze medal, Heike Albrecht, Urs Breitenberger, Hans Tödter and Verena Fleckenstein made a significant contribution to the medal table. Cyclist Isabelle Boberg also made a highly successful debut, bringing home three silver medals from her first games.

Germany's first medal of the games was won by Colin Müller in shooting.

The star of the young swimming team was Linda Neumann, who went home with one silver and one bronze medal.

The bowling team also achieved success in the medal table. The men's team won silver and the men's double, Simon Wildenhayn and Kevin Lindemann, won the bronze medal. In the team sports categories, both the handball and the men's football teams won bronze, after both had unfortunately missed out on a place in the final.

At the Closing Ceremony in the Vasil Levski Stadium in Bulgaria, the Deaflympic flag was handed over to Turkey, which is due to host the games in 2017.

The team of power one - the hearing aid energy - would like to congratulate all the athletes!
